About this page: this page is editorial guidance written for this documentation site. It summarises and links to source material; it defines no language rules. The normative rules are in the Technical Specification.
Decision Records¶
Permanent records of accepted language-design decisions and language-rule changes. Each record states the decision, its rationale, consequences, affected specification sections, and evidence.
Statuses¶
- PROPOSED — a decision under consideration. Proposed decisions are never presented as established language behavior.
- ACCEPTED — a decision is marked ACCEPTED only when all required documentation updates are complete.
Change management process¶
Whenever a language-design decision is accepted or an existing language rule changes:
- Create or update its permanent decision record under
docs/decisions/. - Update the authoritative Technical Specification sections affected by the decision.
- Update the Unresolved Questions register, including the decision status and link to its record.
- Update affected Language Guide pages and examples.
- Add a dated entry to the root
CHANGELOG.md. - Update cross-references and indexes where necessary.
Never silently change language semantics. The changelog must accurately describe completed changes; do not record planned work as completed.
